Places to Eat & Things to do

The Village

Devon’s south coast is a perfect place for a coastal holiday with plenty to do and see. The local beaches, both sand and shingle are great for sailing, Kayaking, fishing, body boarding and even surfing ( if the weather is in your favour). The coastline provides a stunning backdrop to walks, and the Start Point Light House boasts some incredible views. The shingle beach of Torcross village is at the end of Slapton Sands which is a 2 mile stretch ending up at Strete Gate.

Torcross itself has a General Store / Post Office, several cafes along the sea front and a great pub - the Start Bay Inn - which provide excellent food. These are all within a few minutes’ walk of Garden Cot.

The South Hams area is still unspoilt and provides excellent walking country, especially along the coastal paths. Dartmoor is also within easy reach.
