Places to Eat & Things to do
Devon’s south coast is a perfect place for a coastal holiday with plenty to do and see. The local beaches, both sand and shingle are great for sailing, Kayaking, fishing, body boarding and even surfing ( if the weather is in your favour). The coastline provides a stunning backdrop to walks, and the Start Point Light House boasts some incredible views. The shingle beach of Torcross village is at the end of Slapton Sands which is a 2 mile stretch ending up at Strete Gate.
Torcross no longer has a shop, however there is a farm shop nearby, approx 1 mile. There are several cafes along the sea front and a great pub - the Start Bay Inn - which provide excellent food and are about 5 minutes walk from Garden Cot
The South Hams area is still unspoilt and provides excellent walking country, especially along the coastal paths. Dartmoor is also within easy reach.
Beaches at Torcross, and Beesands are all shingle. Beautiful sandy beaches can be found at Lannacombe and also Mill Bay, East Portlemouth in the Salcombe estuary, all within 20 minutes of Garden Cot.
Woodlands Leisure Park - Set in beautiful countryside, the 90 acre adventure park in Devon has 16 family rides, indoor play centres with rides and cafes plus a wide range of family attractions in 10 themed play zones.
A variety of different river trips along the length of the Salcombe estuary, or along the Dart Estuary from Dartmouth
Enjoy Sharpham Vineyard, near Totnes, wander along the riverside trails, taste their award winning wines and cheeses
The South Devon Coast Path from Torcross towards Start Point, Prawle Point and the Salcombe Estuary is absolutely stunning. There are a number of local pubs / restaurants on the way, The Cricket Inn and Britannia @ the Beach ( the Shack) in Beesands, serving exceptional sea food and The Pigs Nose in East Prawle.
